May 25, 2006 - Greenland, NH - Integrated Development Corp. (IDC) today announced the delivery of BreastCancerStories.com (BCS), an online community where those diagnosed with breast cancer can share stories about their experiences, keep loved ones apprised of their treatment and progress, and read empowering stories of people battling similar forms of the disease.  BCS launched its site www.breastcancerstories.com today.

IDC built an intuitive content management system that provides BCS members with access to their own web page to post entries, upload pictures, receive notes of support, and search through a database of stories.

"The time between a breast cancer diagnosis and the start of treatment is fraught with emotion and a hunger for information," says BCS executive director Wendy McCoole, who conceived the site after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. “To have a place where breast cancer patients can express their feelings, communicate with their loved ones, and read other people’s stories that dramatize they are not alone provides tremendous comfort.”

For IDC, the challenge was to create an interface that was intuitive, could scale to accommodate multiple users managing their own content, and provide BCS with a streamlined site they could manage in-house.  The site features a “command module” from which an administrator can update the site’s main content, authenticate users, establish terms of use, and generate reports to chart growth based on site statistics.

“Web technology is increasingly complex and powerful, yet websites, when planned properly, have become easier to use and manage,” says IDC president Stephen F. Steiner.  “We are pleased to deliver a site that will enable BreastCancerStories.com to focus on people and their stories, and not on technical issues.”
