IDC Launches BreastCancerStories.com on Expanded Web Platform PDF Print

Integrated Development Corporation (IDC) a leader in content-managed website development, marketing, and programming services has completed major upgrades to the online support network, BreastCancerStories.com.

Part of the upgrade includes migrating the award-winning site to a Virtual Private Server (VPS), which is less expensive than a dedicated server and provides greater processing power, bandwidth, and security than what’s offered on shared hosting sites. Each VPS operates as if it were a complete, stand-alone system while sharing a physical computer with other VPSes.

IDC houses its client sites in Tier 1 facilities on Dual Quad-processor machines with daily backup of all data and state-of-the-art security.

“IDC’s hosting solution is perfect for our site, which must be able to accommodate an ever-increasing number of users,” says Wendy McCoole, who founded BreastCancerStories.com in 2006. “The site upgrade and new hosting environment ensures there’ll be no drop in performance as our online community expands. I'm happy to say, we just outgrew shared hosting!”

Fees for high-performance hosting have dropped dramatically in recent years to under $80 a month for what is essentially a dedicated server.

“A VPS is a cost-effective solution for businesses that need more control over and room to grow web-based infrastructures,” says IDC president Steve Steiner. “With today’s technology, we can offer performance and bandwidth packages at levels you can’t get on commodity hosting sites, where their goal is to run as many sites on as little hardware as possible. Some hosts put up to 6,000 (yes, six thousand) sites on one server. Needless to say, performance suffers.”

BreastCancerStories.com was launched in 2006 and was awarded a Best Public Service Website New Hampshire Internet Award in 2007.
